Smart Cane
The Smart Assistive Cane for the Visually Impaired is an intelligent navigation aid designed to enhance the safety and independence of visually impaired individuals by integrating obstacle detection and GPS-based tracking. The system uses an ESP8266 NodeMCU as the central controller, interfaced with a VL53L0X Time-of-Flight distance sensor for accurate real-time obstacle detection and a NEO-6M GPS module for continuous location monitoring. When an obstacle is detected within a predefined distance, the cane provides immediate feedback through a buzzer and vibration motor, while LED indicators show system power and GPS lock status. Powered by dual Li-ion batteries with regulated output, the cane offers reliable performance and continuous operation. Overall, the project successfully combines sensing, feedback, and tracking technologies to create a low-cost, portable, and user-friendly assistive device, with potential for future upgrades such as voice alerts and IoT-based safety features.
